9.15-14.30: Coffee, croissant, coffee, beerlao,laab moo, gin and tonic... Well, it's Sunday, isn't it?!? And in the evening a phantastic multi course dinner ($10!!$).
The legendary golden triangle describes the area bordered by Thailand, Burma and Laos in the conventional sense (drug speak). But actually it encompasses a much wider area stretching all the way to the chinese border going into Yunnan as well the border area of Vietnam. The term golden triangle came about caused by the riches generated by trading. The China road was build centuries ago specificially to faciltate trade and the easy moving of the Chinese caravanes. The area is inhabitated by dozens of different people, such as the Hmong, akha, mien, thai lü, thai neua, thai khao, thai daeng, shan, Lao loum, etc. Lumber, rice, corn, spices, precious stones, textiles, opium, etc. were resp. still are the main goods being traded.
